Yoo Hoo Family!!

Happy New Year to you all! Thank you so much to everyone for the letters, emails and prayers. It really means a lot!!

I had a happy new year. On New Years Eve, we went to Brother and Sister Grants home and they fed us delicious dinner. Sister Grant makes the BEST fried Chicken. We got to see a lot of the members and meet some of Brother and Sister Grant's neighbors who aren't members, it was really nice. Apparently they set off fireworks at midnight in Freeport (where the cruise ships are), but Sister Bogle and I were fast asleep by 10 or 10:30 haha.

I love Montego Bay so much! And I love Sister Bogle! And I love my district! I love it all haha!

After dinner on New Years Eve, we didn't have anybody to meet with so we decided to pray to decide what we should do. We decided that we should go finding, so we parked the van  in our area and started walking around. [mom note: During our Christmas call we learned that they call the truck they drive a van. When asked why Emily said that when she would say she drove a truck people assumed she meant like a big rig.] There were not many people on the streets, but we talked to the few we saw and they were not super interested, but we left pamphlets with them and continued walking to find more people. We walked by a man that looked like he was working out so we said "hello" to kind of test the waters and see if he would be willing to talk to us. He responded back and we both knew we were supposed to talk with him. His name in Junior and he had some really great gospel questions. We talked with him and got to know him a little better and we decided to ask him about his family. He is married (AMAZING!!!!) and has 4 kids. [mom note: I don't think the missionaries find very many married folks in Jamaica so it's a big deal. Same thing with finding a family.] Three of his children are grown and one of his daughters lives with him and his wife. When he said that I wanted to cry tears of joy haha. Sister Bogle and I have been praying for a little over a week for a family to teach with a mother, father and daughter. Heavenly Father answered our prayers and I am so thankful!!!! Junior seems very interested in the gospel, and we are praying that his wife and daughter will be as well.

Antoinette is an amazing missionary!!! We are teaching a family that lives near her and we invited them to come to church. There 14 year old son Jimroy decided he wanted to come so Antoinette stopped by their home on Sunday morning so that he could take a taxi with her and Jayden because he wasn't sure where the church was. Jimroy is awesome and I know that he is going to be such an example to his family!!!

We are teaching a girl named Brandy who we were introduced to by another investigator and she is so sweet! She wanted to come to church on Sunday, but she ended up not being able to make it. We went to her home on Sunday night and she felt so bad that she couldn't come to church. She desires to learn more about the gospel, and she is learning a lot when she is willing to rely on the spirit. She has a harder time reading, but she doesn't give herself enough credit sometimes when she reads. We are praying that she will keep praying and that she will read her scriptures and come to church so that she can better recognize the spirit and the blessings that come from this gospel.

Missionary work is so amazing! I am so excited for Claire, congrats to her on her call to Spain! She is going to be a wonderful missionary! [mom note: Claire is a friend from home that just got her mission call to the Spain Malaga Mission]

Thank you for all the love and support from home! I am so lucky to come from a wonderful family and I am thankful for my ward family as well! I am also thankful to all my leaders and teachers who have put up with me for all these years haha. Love you all!!

Love,

Sister Baker
